ASG authentication SQL - Domain and non domain enviroment

I currently have a single license for ASG, I am looking to roll this out to our global support user base.
 
I have setup a MS SQL server and a database.
 
I can connect to the database fine from a domain machine. Our support team use virtual machines to connect to customer sites, these VM's are not domain for security purposes. 

The ASG pop up box for authentication appears on these machines. I am unable to use domain\user, domain is set as the workgroup which I cannot change.
 
Please can you help me try to resolve this?

If the client is not part of the domain you can not use the windows account login - you need to create internal user accounts - inside the program you can add all your domains in Tools=>Settings=>Domains to use AD browsing and so on...
