Citrix Connections in ASG RD2015
#1
Hi

I'm using ASG RD2015 (version 8.0.5034.1) and I'm having some problems trying to set-up and configure a Citrix connection. (Up until now, I've only used RDP connections, all of which work fine.)

The Citrix server we're connecting to has a NetScaler server in front of the Xenapp server so i believe that's why the ICA connection doesn't work because it doesn't log directly into the Xenapp server?

I get a warning message saying "Customername": no error Unknown client error 0 and in the background on the connection window it say's "There is no Citrix Xenapp server configured on the specified address"

I have tried setting the connection up as a HTTP\S connection and whilst the web page loads, the credentials do not pass through and from looking at some older posts on this forum this relates to an older version of VisionApp not supporting form based web pages?

How can i go about getting these connections set-up so they work and the credentials pass through?
I'm told that net scaler servers are quite common with Citrix and i'm hoping i'm either not setting it up correctly or this type of connection is fixed in a later version? (the ICA connection or the form based web page connection)

If you need to know any more information, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance

Hi,

I do not have a environment with Netscaler in front - so I can't test that scenario - the error code from citrix is always the same and do not help a lot - which client version of citrix receiver do you use? Last version did not work - perhaps you can try an older version. citrix receiver 14.4.0.8014 is not working, Citrix Receiver 14.3.100.10 should work.

Form based auth is still not supported in http connections

Hi Oliver,

Sorry I forgot to mention, I'd seen on the forum about the compatibility issues with the latest Citrix receivers.
I've installed 14.3.100.10 and it doesn't work with the Citrix environment I'm trying to connect to with the Netscaler server configured.
I have tested this with an older Citrix platform that goes directly to XenApp and it connects fine so it looks like it's the Netscaler configuration that you're not compatible with.

As I mentioned before, Netscaler servers are very common these days with Citrix set-ups so is this something you can look into and setup a test environment to get it investigated, tested and supported?
Are there any plans to support form based authentications with Http \s soon?

Thanks,
Ian

Hi Oliver,

Is there any update on the possibility of supporting Netscaler Citrix servers or form based authentication in future builds\versions?

Thanks,
Ian

I will try to analyse Netscaler problem the next days - form based auth for HTTP I can't give you a date, didn't find a solution how to integrate in "integrated browser controls"

I have talked to our Citrix specialist the last days - he explained me some more details how Netscaler works and I don't see any properties in Citrix-ICA-Control that allows me to add connections via Netscaler - my collegue told me also that it is always difficult to get support from Citrix - if you have a valid support agreement with Citrix just ask them if it is possible "to use Citrix ICA Client ActiveX control in combination with Netscaler" - perhaps there is a way that is not documented

Hi Oliver,

We've had this back from Citrix:-

As far as we know, the ICA Client Object Software Development Kit (ICOSDK) is useful for customizing the operation of the ICA Client. It provides a set of standard scripting interfaces or APIs that allow you to interface with the ICA Client software and control it from third-party applications. ActiveX controls and Netscape plug-ins are two of the enabling technologies that allow you to embed objects within container applications such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Microsoft Word, and Excel. The ICA Client Object implementation is based on these two embedding technologies.

Does this help you at all?
