Problem with External Application - FEATURE REQ "Auto Connect to RAS" (G)
#1
Hi,
just downloaded and upgraded to 2010, and at first sight i can say it does start very good Smile

Now at the first problem.

This is the situation.

1) I create a VPN

2) I create a shortcut to the VPN

3) I configure "External Application" to run the VPN Shortcut as Pre-App

4) Connect to the server

5) The VPN starts correctly BUT

6) "The application could not be started Object reference not set to an istance of an object"

7) Click OK and the RDP connection start with the VPN already started

If you can correct this little problem you're just WONDERFUL :D

Thanks

PS: Well this a workaroud to start a VPN and RDP, but it would be just right to include this feature in the program, as requested in the other forum. Hope this will be satisfied.

You can use the vpn external app as "Pre Ext. App" of your connection - think that is what you want...

Is that what i do now, but with the shortcut workaround.

I can't select the VPN Connection in the Pre-App directly.

And with the workaround the Vrd gives the error.

Did you activate "Try to integrate" in the External App? This could be cause your error, because not all applications can be integrated in the UI - and for vpn it is not necressary - please check this setting

Tried every possible combination. Same result.

A quite dirt and HIGLY UNSECURE way to do the trick is with Rasdial comand.

RASDIAL.EXE "Connection Name" "Login" "Password"

Use quote if there are space involved.

Unfortunately in this way the password is clear and this is quite unaccettable.

I repeat, i hope a dedicated feature as requested in the old forum

------------
"Auto-Connect to RAS (Select)"

and

"Auto Disconnect from RAS"
------------

Will be implemented very soon.

Thank you very much.
