Package Licence with installer
#1
Hi Team,

We are about to purchase a Global licence for our company. Is there a way that we can package the licence file with the installer so we do not have to distribute it to every user.

Thanks.

It depends on how you want to use the application. In database mode the license is stored in the database. In file mode you can deploy easily a reg key to ensure the users do not need a license anymore. It is described in the online help.

Here you can see the part of the online help. You can use it not only for TS :-)

Licensing

How can be a license stored for all users who are using Terminal Server?

Users who are using a local data source (file) on a Terminal Server do not need to import the license in each data file. You can use a registry key instead to provide the license to all users. This works only for local mode because in database the license is stored itself.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ASG\RemoteDesktop2015\License (32 bit systems)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\ASG\RemoteDesktop2015\License (64 bit systems)

The value can be stored as String or MultiString.

Hello,

This procedure is not working for me.

We are using patch 5 as a standalone installation.

I followed the instructions but the users get an evaluation only.

Is there something else needed besides this registry entry?

Thanks in advance.

Are the users connecting to a file environment? Did you copy the content of the license file via notepad and "copy & paste" into the regkey value? Do you use String or MultiString? 32 or 64 Bit systems?

Users have their own file environments.

yes, I copy paste the contents of the license file into a MultiString registry key.

The machines are 64bit, I've tried both 64 and 32 bit registry locations

"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ASG\RemoteDesktop2015\License]
"CoreLicense"=hex(7):3c,00,3f,00,78,00,6d,00,6c,00,20,00,76,00,65,00,72,00,73,\
00,69,00,6f,00,6e,00,3d,00,22,00,31,00,2e,00,30,00,22,00,20,00,65,00,6e,00,\

It works with path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ASG\RemoteDesktop2015
"License"=hex(7):3c,00,3f,00,78,00,6d,00,6c,00,20,00,76,00,65,00,72,00,73,\.............

Thank you.
