Upgrade from 2011 to 2016
#1
Hello, can you help us to migrate a SQL database, with 300 objects, from visionapp RD 2011 (7.0.3328.0) to ASGRD2016 (9.0.5223.0). We have installed the new version with new licenses, but no way to migrate our existing database. Thanks in advance.

You need to install version 2012 first - open your 2011 database with version 2012 - will be migrated - then create a new environment in version 2016 - in this empty environment you can migrate the 2012 database (Environment=>Upgrade from 2012)

Thanks for your quick reply.
Will the actual license 2011 (without subscription) or new 2016 license be valid for 2012 installation?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Gruss, thanks for your help.
This is what we do, maybe can help others admins...

We have duplicated production SQL database in a new database called "upgrade",
Installed ASGRD 2012 with our new licenses and connect to this "upgrade" 2011 database,
Accepted the wizard to migrate 2011 "upgrade" database to 2012 schema,
Installed the new 2016 version with a new and empty database on new SQL server,
And finally used the "Upgrade from 2012 wizard" from 2012 "upgrade" database.

All the data has been upgraded on new 2016 version.
Hope this new version work as well as our very old 2011 version.
Great app....

You can use any valid license - if you have a license for 2016 just use it for migration too
